About Gloria Trevi
Gloria Trevi got her start in music early when she left her hometown of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico to pursue a career in music. She got her first start in 1985 when she became a member of a girl group named Boquitas Pintadas. The group remained together until they broke up in 1988.
Shortly after, Trevi approached Sergio Andrade for her first solo album, ¿Qué Hago Aquí? (What Am I Doing Here?), which was released in 1989. The album produced a Latin America #1 hit, “Dr. Psiquiatra”. Her early fame led to her gaining the nickname, “The Madonna of Mexico.”
Over time, Trevi’s success grew outside of Latin America, giving her worldwide appeal and fame. This included her second album reaching #1 in several Latin American countries and her album being included in a list of Greatest Latin albums of all time in Billboard magazine. Trevi also starred in films during the early 90s while continuing her work as a music artist.
Her career was temporarily halted when she was placed under arrest. But she was later released due to a lack of evidence. Shortly after her release, her sixth and seventh studio albums launched, with the latter being a critical and commercial success. These successes showed that Trevi was still an influential artist who more than succeeded in making a comeback.
Today, Trevi continues to make stunning music. She has collaborated with fellow performers and have gone on tour with fellow artists with the same diva style that made her a world wide name nearly 40 years ago.
